Barbara's Priorities:
Economic Security:
Working to create jobs in our community as a member of the Regional Economic Development Council;
Helping craft budgets which strengthen our local economy by investing in higher education, agriculture, high tech manufacturing, green jobs, tourism and the arts.
The Environment:
Leader of the successful effort to ban fracking in New York State, calling for a new sGEIS and an independent health impact assessment;
Advocate for swift and responsible climate action, including a moratorium on all new fossil fuel infrastructure and weatherization and retrofitting of buildings and homes to reduce energy demand.
Government Reform:
Supporter of campaign finance reform to get corrupting big money out of politics;
Advocate for progressive taxation to reduce property taxes.
Health and Education:
Working for fair funding for our schools so all children have access to a high quality education;
