Barbara’s legislative record shows her strong support for the working families of her district. She co-sponsored and voted for legislation that raised the minimum wage in New York. She is the lead sponsor of a bill that directs the New York State Civil Service Commission to study and report on wage disparities among public employers by the gender, race and/or national origin of employees. This bill passed both houses of the state legislature in 2018.
Barbara also co-sponsored and voted for the Assembly bill on Paid Family Leave that is now law. She brought a significant state grant to the new TC3 daycare facility now being built, which will act as both a daycare center and a teaching facility for TC3 students studying Early Childhood. She has also brought funding to other local daycare centers, and continues to fight for more daycare funding in the state budget
